2026 Promises to be an exciting year filled with new training opportunities. The Incident Command Training team is actively developing new workshops and courses, with a strong focus on content that can be delivered virtually while maintaining high instructional quality.

Mid January ICS Canada has launched the first part of their new delivery methods for the ICS-200 Basic ICS course. This new delivery method consists of 2 parts:

ICS-200 Basic ICS (SS) Part A

  • Online (self-study) course.

ICS-200 Basic ICS (SS) Part B

  • One-day, in-person classroom course

  • Target launch: mid-2026.

Important Information Before Taking ICS-200 SS Part A

Before enrolling in the ICS-200 Self-Study (SS) Part A course, please consider the following:

  • ICS-200 SS Part A alone does NOT meet the prerequisite requirements for admission into ICS-300 training.

To qualify for ICS-300, students must complete both Part A and Part B.

  • ICS-200 SS Part A does meet the prerequisites for admission into the following ICS Canada courses:

    • Strike Team / Task Force Leader

    • Finance / Administration Unit Leader

Planning Ahead for ICS-300

As the ICS-200 Part B will not be available for delivery until mid- 2026 it is best to consider taking the 2-day instructor facilitated course in order to attend an ICS-300 course this year.

Another point to consider it is that finding available seats in a delivery of the ICS-200 Part B course may be challenging during the initial rollout of the program.

To enroll into the ICS-200 Part B, the student must produce both their ICS-100 and the ICS-200 SS Part A certificates.

The ICS-200 2-day Instructor facilitated course will still be available and remains the preferred option for ICS-200 training.

This course is particularly well-suited for individuals who may not be First Responders but are involved in supporting Emergency Management responses. It builds directly on the foundational concepts introduced in ICS-100.
